STORMPRO - Manually Operated Sump Pump

Question
Why is the Stormpro Pump, model BA-xx-M offered without a switch?  Don’t I need a switch to operate this pump?

Answer

You will need a switch to operate the pump if you are looking to have the pump turn on and off automatically when the sump pit fills with water.   We offer the pump without a switch for one of the following reasons.

  1. Buyer has their own supply of switched or buy switches from us in bulk.  They then buy pumps one or two at a time and use the switches they have in their inventory.
  2. Buyer is replacing an existing pump and their existing switch is working fine and does not require replacement.
  3. Buyer is using a 3rd party switch.
  4. Buyer is using the ION GENESIS pump controller.  When using a pump with the ION Genesis, the ION Genesis acts as your sump pumps switch, thus, the pump should be purchased without switches.
  5.  Buyer is using the pump in an unconventional manner, such as a continuous run pump for an emergency situation.  We often see pumps used in this manner to remove flood water from a  basement.

Question

What is the difference between a Stormpro Sump Pump with an M, SPI or I at the end of the model name?

Answer

The letter after the model number refers to the type of switch that is included with the pump.  For all of these models, the pump is identical. The only difference between the pumps is the type of switch that is included with the pump.

BA-xx-M
The “M” Indicates manual.  Manual indicates that no pump switch is included with the pump.  The pump operated by plugging the pump directly into the wall outlet, the pump can only be turned on and off by plugging the pump into the wall

BA-xx-i
The “i” indicates attached ion switch.  The float switch included with the pump is “attached” to the pump and is a digital, non-mechanical float switch.  This float switch has no moving parts and is more reliable than a mechanical switch.

BA-xx-SPI
The “SPI” indicates detached vertical switch.  The float switch included with the pump is “detached” from the pump and is a vertical mechanical float switch.  The float switch attached to the discharge pipe with a discharge pipe clamp connector. This type of switch enable the installer to adjust the location of the switch within the sump pump basin.

BA-xx-V
